We turned out to Spring range a little later this year (April 2) as it was a cold spring and low precipitation year.

After the cattle are turned out we turn our attention to prepping (breaking up the natural fertilizer our cattle leave in the fields and spreading it) the fields and getting them ready to grow food for our cattle.

This is the farming 'boss' evaluating the status of the fields. 😊

We get our water from snow pack that melts in the mountains and then runs through our ranch via Jordan Creek.

We use the most efficient water method possible. It is an in ground , gravity-based flood irrigation system that reduced water consumption and waste via evaporation. It also recharges the ground water table.

In the spring we are outside early until late...good thing we have long days of daylight.

The fields grow well once the temps warm up a bit. This is alfalfa one of the crops we grow and feed our cattle.

This is a medley of grasses, lots of Timothy grass, and some clover as well. This is what we feed our cattle when they come back to the ranch.

It's May and spring has hit!

Cattle are on the spring range and the grass is growing well.

We ride and check on the cattle and water supply often on the spring range.

Our twin boys Houston and Pace are becoming such great helpers in running the ranch and working with the cattle.

They have their own talents and ways of doing things!😀

Early June and we are gathering and sorting the cattle to move them to the mountains for the summer.

This time of year means very long days... we get up at 4:30 a.m. to go out to the spring range and gather and sort the cattle. We don't get home oftentimes until 9:00 p.m.
